The boring stuff ...
Dave's Cave is evolving - just as I have over the last few years. Nothing major, nothing drastic, just a small change in how my time is now spent. I thought of jumping on the blogsphere bandwagon, but after much ruminating I've decided otherwise. I'm not consistent or dependable enough to do anything like a diary, and I'm not particularly interested in joining the blog-masses who are constantly seeking attention and accolades: I simply want to occasionally put down my thoughts and findings, without anyone having any expectations of more than I'm able to deliver.
I'm leaving the rest of my web site as it used to be - I don't really have the time or inclination to rebuild everything, but a lot of what I've done over the years does have some sentimental value to me, so I'm happy that it just sits there in the background ... read or unread, it doesn't really matter, but if nothing else, it might be a good lesson to someone as to how not make a web site, and a good reminder to me of how bad I really was :)
Instead, I'll now be concentrating my efforts on what has become a small obsession to me, and that is Second Life .. my thoughts about it, my thoughts about what others are thinking about it (mainly wrongly), and, more relevantly, how I spend my time there.
In keeping with my lack of ability, sometimes lack of time, and often health problems, you wont find any fancy programming, RSS feeds, blog lists, word lists etc on this site. I've never got my head around Flash (though I can make Flash video's), so there wont be much of that either. I can manage screenshots and links to video's etc, and will do if it makes a point or clarifies something I want to say, but otherwise it will be just plain text. I can take, and will post any feedback I get, but I'm not clever enough to have 'live' comments or anything like that.
So, as I started out saying, this is just a plain 'ol web site, and nothing like the (sometimes) wonderful blog sites I see out there. I will, of course, include links to what I consider 'good' blogs, or even bad blogs if I want to make a point (there is so much bad hype that I would like to dispel). That might prove boring to some ... no bother (there's many better places to go to :)). I'll enjoy it - someone else might do so as well. It's just another step in my evolution - and I need to make steps. Life's too short not to ...
